All Students born on or after January 1, 1957 must show proof of full immunization against measles (rubeola) and rubella. Certain groups of students, regardless of age, must also show proof of full immunization.
These groups include:
- Students who attended K-12 school outside the US
- Students who live in the campus residence hall
- Students who will/or do work with pre-school age children or will/or do work at a health care setting as part of their college experience
All new enrollees who are 18 years of age or younger must show proof of having completed a 3 dose series of immunizations against Hepatitis B.
Immunity to Measles (Rubeola) and Rubella means
Two doses of measles and rubella given individually or in combination (MR or MMR) at 12 months of age and at least one month apart
Immunity to Hepatitis B means
Three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine given over a period of approximately six (6) months
Compliance with these requirements can be met in the following ways and needs to be completed prior to your next registration period:
Send one or more of the following documents to Admissions and Records with your name and student ID number clearly indicated on each document submitted:
- Verification of immunity completed by healthcare provider
- Photocopy of your childhood immunization record
- Photocopy of your California High School transcript if immunization information is documented on transcript
- A copy of a lab report showing proof of immunity by blood titer
Housing & Residential Life Students
Meningitis vaccine is recommended for all students living in resident halls. Vaccines are available, at cost, through Student Health & Counseling. If students have been vaccinated for meningitis prior to their 16th birthday, a booster dose is recommended before entering college. For additional information:
After the semester begins, submit your immunization record for Measles and Rubella to Student Health & Counseling Services (address below). Students who are unable to demonstrate proof of immunity may be vaccinated by SHCS staff for a nominal fee. In addition, a mandatory Tuberculosis test is also required. if you have been tested for Tuberculosis in the US within the last year, you may submit a statement from your previous physician. For those 18 and under, a Hepatitis B immunization is also required.
