Health Promotion


The Health Promotion office is location in Room 1101 in Student Health & Counseling Services in The WELL. We aim to enhance students’ educational experience by addressing health-related barriers to learning, enabling students to make informed health decisions, and promoting the seven dimensions of wellness – Intellectual, Emotional, Environmental, Physical, Career/ Financial, Spiritual, and Socio-Cultural. The Health Promotion office is the headquarters for the Sac State Peer Health Educators who plan events and present to classrooms regarding a variety of health topics including nutrition, mental health, healthy relationships, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

Topic Areas

  • Active Minds (Mental Health)
    The Active Minds mission is to change the conversation surrounding mental health. We strive to educatre the campus community about mental health and emoional wellness issues (such as depression, anxiety, stress management, eating disorders, body image, and suicide prevention), all in an effor to reduce the stigmas associated with mental health issues and treatment. Services are offered by Peer Health Educators with a focus on providing outreach, promoting awareness campaigns, interactive workshops, and presentations to the Sacromento State community under the direct supervision of the Sacramento State Student Health & Counseling Services.
  • Healthy Relationships

    Healthy Relationships deparment focuses on providing outreach and events related to sexual assault, safer sex practices, and communications regarding healthy relationships. For more information call our office at 916-278-5422.

     

  • Nutrition

    Our Nutrition Department has a variety of services that can cover a variety of nutrition related concerns and issues.

    • Individual Nutrition Counseling
      • Make an appointment by phone, in person at the Health Promotion or Urgent Care Desk, or visit Patient Portal.
    • Diet Analysis
    • WELL Into Nutrition (Healthy Eating Program)
      • This program covers techniques for healthier eating including, meal planning, mindful eating, eating on the go.

  • Alcohol, Tobacco, & Other Drugs

    The Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Education Program works to reduce the harm associated with high risk drinking, tobacco and drug use through education, collaboration, student leadership development, and provision of resources to support and encourage healthy choices.
